Downtown Vegas Casinos Treating Canadian Money as USD
Circa, The D, and Golden Gate are accepting Canadian dollars at par through August. Your loonie is now worth a buck on slots, rooms, and drinks.

Derek Stevens misses Canadians. So much that he's making their money worth more. Three downtown Las Vegas casinos—Circa, The D, and Golden Gate—are now treating Canadian dollars as American dollars through August 31.
The Quick Hit
- What happened: Downtown Vegas casinos launch "At Par" promotion for Canadians
- The damage: $1 CAD = $1 USD on slots, hotel rooms, and drinks
- Why you should care: Instant 35% boost to your spending power
- The move: Book a trip before August, bring your passport
How It Works
Under the At Par program, eligible Canadian guests receive $1 USD in value for every $1 CAD spent, regardless of daily exchange rates. At current rates, that's roughly a 35% discount on everything.
Gaming: Canadian guests can redeem up to $500 CAD in slot promotional play, treated at full U.S. dollar value. Just show a valid Canadian passport or government ID at Club One.
Hotel Rooms: Canadian guests staying at any of the three properties pay the same number shown in U.S. dollars, charged directly in Canadian dollars. No conversion rate applied.
Drinks: BarCanada at The D, Overhang at Circa, and Bar Prohibition at Golden Gate are all participating.
Why They're Doing This
Canadian travel to Las Vegas has cratered. According to year-end stats from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, Canadian visitors are down 20% from 2024. Airline capacity on WestJet and Air Canada has dropped 35-40%, pushing visitor numbers back to 2006 levels.
"We miss Canadians here," Stevens said in announcing the program. "We really wanted to address the issue and let everyone know that Canadians are missed."
It's a smart play. Vegas tourism is struggling overall, and Canadian gamblers have historically been some of the best customers downtown properties see. Giving them a financial incentive to return makes business sense.
The Fine Print
You need a valid Canadian passport or government-issued ID to access all offers. The promotion runs through August 31, 2026, giving Canadians most of the year to take advantage.
This is specifically a downtown promotion. The Strip properties aren't offering anything similar (yet), so if you want the At Par treatment, you're staying at Circa, The D, or Golden Gate—which just celebrated its 120th anniversary as the oldest casino in Vegas.
The Bottom Line
If you're Canadian and have been priced out of Vegas trips by the exchange rate, downtown just made itself affordable again. A 35% boost to your spending power on slots, rooms, and drinks is nothing to ignore.
Stevens is betting that bringing Canadians back—even at a discount—beats having empty rooms and quiet casino floors. Based on the tourism numbers, he's probably right.
The Five Guys flagship just opened at the Venetian with a bar serving boozy milkshakes, so there's never been a better time to make a Vegas run. Just bring your passport.
