The first woman to ever win a $1 million poker tournament is still collecting hardware at 63.

Kathy Liebert, Women in Poker Hall of Famer and WSOP bracelet winner, took down the $300 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em event at the WSOP Circuit Planet Hollywood stop this week. That's her second Circuit ring and her fourth live tournament victory since August 2024.

Legends don't fade. They just keep stacking chips.

The Quick Hit

  • The event: WSOP Circuit Planet Hollywood - $300 Ladies NLH
  • The prize: $6,787 and her second Circuit ring
  • The winner: Kathy Liebert, 63, Women in Poker Hall of Fame member
  • Career earnings: Over $7.2 million

The Win

Liebert navigated a field that included Ayaka Muraishi (3rd, $2,887), Jennifer Avila (4th, $2,011), and Trina Newberry (5th, $1,467) to claim the title.

The $6,787 first-place prize isn't life-changing money for someone with over $7 million in career earnings, but the ring represents something more. At 63, Liebert is proving that experience and skill don't have expiration dates.

This marks her fourth live tournament victory since August 2024. When you've been playing at the highest levels for decades, the game doesn't get away from you — if anything, you get sharper.

Liebert's Resume

For those who don't know the history:

  • 2004 WSOP bracelet: $1,500 Limit Hold'em Shootout
  • First woman to win $1 million+: PartyPoker Million in 2002
  • Women in Poker Hall of Fame: Inducted 2010
  • Poker Hall of Fame nominee: 2022
  • Career live earnings: Over $7.2 million

Liebert was crushing tournaments before most of today's poker players knew what a check-raise was. She's been a fixture in the high-stakes scene for over two decades.

Planet Hollywood Circuit Stop

The WSOP Circuit returned to Planet Hollywood after a six-year hiatus, and the series has produced some notable winners.

Matthew Wantman took down the MSPT Venetian for $96K earlier this week. David Tarbet won the first ring of 2026 in the $400 PLO event. And of course, Phil Hellmuth made his second final table in three days at the concurrent PGT Last Chance series.

The poker action in Vegas right now is legitimate. Between the Circuit at Planet Hollywood, the DeepStack series at Venetian, and the PGT Championship next week, there's no shortage of opportunities to chase glory.

Women in Poker

2025 was a historic year for women in poker. Shiina Okamoto won her second consecutive WSOP Ladies Championship. Leo Margets made the Main Event final table. The field sizes in women's events continue to grow.

Liebert winning at 63 — and winning frequently — sends a message: this game rewards skill and experience, and those don't diminish with age.

The Bottom Line

Kathy Liebert won her second WSOP Circuit ring at 63 years old. She's a Hall of Famer, a bracelet winner, the first woman to win a million-dollar tournament, and she's still out here stacking chips.

Some players talk about their glory days. Liebert is still living hers.

Four wins since August 2024. The grind never stops, even for legends.
