The Quick Hit
- What happened: Ten-game NHL slate with several intriguing betting angles

- Why you should care: Buffalo's hot streak meets Tampa's home dominance
- The move: Under 6.5 in Lightning-Sabres looks sharp
Featured Game: Sabres at Lightning
Time: 7:30 PM ET | Line: Lightning -1.5 (+130) | ML: Lightning -220, Sabres +183 | Total: 6.5
The Buffalo Sabres (32-18-5) have been one of the best stories in hockey this season. They've won six of their last seven games and sit fourth in the Atlantic Division. This isn't the tanking Sabres of recent years—this team can play.
But they're catching the Tampa Bay Lightning (35-14-4) in one of the toughest buildings in the league. The Lightning lead the Atlantic and have been dominant at home all season.
The case for Buffalo (+183): Hot streak, playing with confidence, Anthony Cirelli is out for Tampa with an injury. At plus-money, the Sabres represent value against a team that might be emotionally flat after an OT win against Boston.
The case for Tampa (-220): The Lightning are 185 total goals (3.5 per game) and allow just 134 (2.5 per game)—second-best goal differential in the league at +51. They're simply better.
The lean: Under 6.5. Tampa's defense is elite, and Buffalo plays structured hockey. These two defenses should make this a grind.
Other Notable Games
Toronto Maple Leafs at Edmonton Oilers
Time: 9:00 PM ET | Total: 6.5
Two of the most talented offensive teams in the league square off. The Leafs and Oilers both have game-breaking forwards who can score in bunches.
The over looks tempting at 6.5, but these games often turn into goalie battles when the stakes are high. Proceed with caution.
Colorado Avalanche vs Detroit Red Wings
Time: 8:00 PM ET
The Avalanche on the road against a Pistons... wait, wrong sport. But seriously, Colorado has been inconsistent this season despite having elite talent. Detroit is playing solid hockey and could steal this one at home.
New York Islanders at Washington Capitals
Time: 7:00 PM ET
Battle of Metropolitan Division teams trying to solidify playoff positioning. Both teams play physical, defensive hockey. Under the total is usually the right play in Islanders games.
Quick Hits on the Rest
- Senators at Hurricanes: Carolina at home is dangerous. The Canes should cover.
- Rangers at Wild: Minnesota plays well at home. Rangers have been inconsistent.
- Predators at Stars: Dallas at home against a Nashville team in free fall. Stars should roll.
- Blue Jackets at Kraken: Seattle has been a disappointment. Columbus might have value as underdogs.
- Blackhawks at Kings: Los Angeles in tank mode? Chicago might steal one.
The Bottom Line
The Lightning-Sabres total of 6.5 is the best bet on the board. Tampa's elite defense against Buffalo's structured play should keep this low-scoring.
If you're feeling Buffalo at +183, there's logic there—hot teams stay hot, and the Sabres have earned respect. But Tampa at home is a different animal.
Tuesday's a full slate. Find your edges, manage your bankroll, and remember: the under is your friend in February hockey.
