The Strip is about to get a lot more... pink? Reality TV star and hospitality entrepreneur Lisa Vanderpump is transforming The Cromwell into The Vanderpump Hotel, marking the fourth name change for this boutique property since it opened as the Barbary Coast back in 1979.

The Quick Hit

  • What's happening: The Cromwell becomes The Vanderpump Hotel
  • Timeline: Rooms offline February 15, reopens April 13
  • The vibe: "Sexy elegance and comfort" according to Vanderpump
  • The move: Book a room in late April if you want to see what $50 million in pink decor looks like

Another Chapter for This Corner

The property at Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road has quite the history. It opened as the Barbary Coast in 1979, got a name change to Bill's Gamblin' Hall and Saloon in 2007 (a name literally nobody remembers fondly), then became The Cromwell in 2014.

Now Caesars Entertainment is handing the keys to Vanderpump, who built a hospitality empire on the back of her "Vanderpump Rules" reality TV fame. She already runs several successful restaurants and lounges in Vegas, including Vanderpump Cocktail Garden and Vanderpump à Paris at Paris Las Vegas.

The difference this time? She's redesigning the entire hotel experience, not just opening another restaurant.

What's Changing

All 188 guest rooms and 19 suites are getting the full Vanderpump treatment. She's describing the design as "attainable luxury"—which probably means more expensive than you'd expect but less expensive than the Wynn.

Her signature Vanderpump Alain furnishings and lighting fixtures will appear throughout the property. If you've been to any of her restaurants, you know what to expect: lots of gold accents, rich fabrics, and a generally over-the-top aesthetic that somehow works.

The casino floor and Giada (the Italian restaurant from another celebrity chef) will remain open during renovations. Drai's Beachclub and Nightclub will also continue operating, so the property won't be completely dead during the construction phase.

Why This Matters

Vegas is all about reinvention. Properties that don't evolve get left behind. The Cromwell has struggled to find its identity in recent years—it's a boutique hotel in a market that usually rewards size and excess.

Vanderpump brings built-in marketing. Her fanbase is devoted and they'll show up just to take pictures for Instagram. Whether that translates to sustained occupancy remains to be seen, but the opening months should be packed.

This is also Caesars betting on the celebrity-branded hotel concept. If it works, expect more properties in their portfolio to get similar treatment. Vegas has been trying different approaches to stand out as competition for tourist dollars increases.

The Timeline

Rooms go offline February 15. Caesars says the hotel will be ready for bookings again by April 13. That's about a two-month turnaround for a complete redesign of nearly 200 rooms, which is aggressive but not impossible when you throw enough money at the problem.

If you had reservations at The Cromwell during this window, expect Caesars to reach out about relocating you to another property. They're not leaving guests stranded.

Vanderpump's Statement

"What an extraordinary opportunity to develop this iconic location into something unique, playful and upscale," Vanderpump said in the announcement. "Hospitality has always been our passion, and our mission is to create something sumptuous with a unique atmosphere."

Translation: it's going to be Instagram-ready from top to bottom.

The Bottom Line

Vegas never stops changing. The Cromwell is getting its fourth identity in 47 years, and this time it's banking on reality TV star power to drive traffic. Whether you're a Vanderpump fan or just someone who appreciates watching Vegas try new things, this transformation will be worth following. Worst case, it'll be a fun place to grab drinks and people-watch.
